Community

Corporate responsibility and fostering good relationships with all stakeholders is an essential part of Magellan’s emphasis on sustainable operations and developments. Magellan focuses on projects that are expected to make positive, long-term contributions to broad sections of the community and those which have community support.

We are involved in the communities of Wiluna and Esperance in a variety of ways, and have strong links with Fremantle.

Wiluna

In Wiluna we are involved in community development through a range of programs such as the Wiluna Regional Partnership Agreement (Wiluna RPA) and sponsorships, including the Wiluna Martu Junior Football Club, the Ngangganawilli Aboriginal Health Service and the Constable Care Child Safety Foundation. These programs are detailed in this section.

Esperance

In 2009 we established the A$1 million Magellan Community Fund in Esperance, a three year program which supports community initiatives of local not-for-profit organisations. The final round of funding was announced in May 2011. You can view the projects that received funding in 2009, 2010 and 2011 in this section.

Fremantle

We are an active member of the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce and use our involvement to keep Fremantle stakeholders informed about sealed shipments through the Port of Fremantle. As part of our commitment to providing information to the community, we also provide reports to the Fremantle Port’s Inner Harbour Community Liaison Group on our auditing and monitoring processes and results.
