Esperance Community Fund
The A$1 million Magellan Metals Community Fund was established in 2009 to financially support community projects in the Esperance area, the last funding round concluded in early 2011.
The Shire of Esperance administered the application process, with selections made by a five person panel comprising three community representatives and a representative from both the Shire and Magellan.
In 2009, ten Esperance community organisations were granted approximately $290,000 in funding to complete community projects. Successful applicants included the Esperance Goldfields Surf Lifesaving Club and the Restore Hope Foundation.
In 2010, nine Esperance community organisations were selected to receive a total of $286,108 to undertake a variety of local community projects. The successful applicants included the Esperance Tennis Club and the Friends of the Esperance Civic Centre.
In 2011, ten Esperance community organisations were selected to receive a total of $236,861 from the third and final year of funding. Successful applicants included the Esperance Soccer Association and the Pink Urban Rural Fire Brigade. Magellan also announced a donation of approximately $70,000 from the Fund to the Shire of Esperance toward the proposed Esperance foreshore development.
